BELLRINGING FOR BIODIVERSITY
Wednesday, 22 September, 2010
12:00am - 2:00am
Wherever you are
Event details:
2010 has been named International Year of Biodiversity to draw attention to the accelerated rate at which species are being lost as a result of human activities, currently 1,000 times the natural rate and rising. The Church of England as an official supporter of IYB-UK has been invited by the UN to encourage its churches to ring bells between 12noon and 2pm on 22 September. The aim is to remind people throughout the country of the crisis but also to celebrate the church and church people's role in celebrating and recording the biodiversity contained in its 12,000 churchyards.
