Someone at Greenbelt told me about this fantastic idea for a church in Scotland to be be built out of rubbish. Take a look at this web link if you have ever been frustrated by your church's obsession with its building.

Could this be the way forward? Most of our thinking about ecologically sound churches focusses on the carbon footprint that arises from running the church but we rarely consider the embodied carbon involved in building one in the first place. Concrete and cement are enormous generators of carbon dioxide. By building in wood, stone and now rubbish we can build churches that are as environmentally sound in their construction as they are in their operation - and this one will even reduce the need for landfill! Well done Colston Milton church.
