Barking United Reformed Church, Essex
With a small congregation of 20 folk, Barking URC have undertaken these activities:
- set up a small group in the church to put things into practice
- regular prayers for creation in services
- special services to highlight the needs of specific parts of the wider community locally and globally
- improved access to the church
- water saving devices installed
- Fairtrade refreshments used
- collection of various items for recycling (stamps, cartridges, mobile phones, spectacles)
- paper reused
- article on eco-matters in church magazine
- encourage economy of water and energy, and use of recycling facilities through notices in building
- collections made for local and global charities
